Jazmine is a Philadelphia native is a native of Philadelphia, and was raised in the city. Pam, Jazmine's mother, is an ex-backup artist from Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her dad landed a position as a curator for City's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the landmark historical building. She is a 2005 graduate from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was the vocal music instructor. Sullivan was a contralto singer for the choir for children and then sang in the adult choir. Sullivan was not exposed to secular music. She relates that she was just 11 years old when a person was requesting her to sing for solos in church. The singer wasn't fully ready.
